Publisher API

Purpose and Benefit: Aloqa provides websites and other content publishers with location-relevant content an open API that lets them easily create their own "channels" on Aloqa or their own branded applications. Instead of having to build their own applications and support them across multiple platforms and devices, publishers can build an Aloqa channel once and reach all users across all Aloqa supported platforms quickly, easily, and inexpensively.

Example: A publisher with content on great things to do in Napa Valley can simply use Aloqa's REST API to create a "Napa Activities" channel simply by making their content available as an RSS feed containing simple geo-tags (e.g. as a KML or GeoRSS feed). Once the channel is created, they can then let their users know how to find the channel on Aloqa.

The API contains a style guide to let publishers decide how they want their content to look, and the types of actions they want their users to be able to take e.g. be redirected to the publisher's website, or initiate a call, or see the event on a map, or recommend the content to friends.
